Benvenuti a Firenze!

After taking a good long nap to get rid of the jetlag, the whole group was given a warm welcome to Florence! We walked over to the church where we will be performing, where we received our daily schedules, asked questions about the program, met the faculty, and introduced ourselves to each other. Our schedules include daily voice lessons, regular coachings from our two coaches, regular staging rehearsals for our opera scenes, and many many masterclasses. The schedule leaves plenty of room to explore Florence and become a part of the society in between singing commitments, so I am very excited to take advantage of that! Walking tours to the Uffizi and Academia (where the David is) are already planned for this week and a day trip to Sienna is planned for this Saturday! After the meeting, we all went out for pizza, and man was it good! I've been meeting a lot of new friends, plenty of whom will be introduced to you in the near future, and I can't wait to get to know such wonderful people over the next three weeks!

Tomorrow everything starts for real - the singing, the touring, and the work. Wish me luck!

I seem to be having trouble with photo uploads - No worries, I will add photos soon!
